Congrats to Zack Pittman!

Per his Twitter account, Lincoln Stars defenseman Zack Pittman ('95) has committed to play college hockey for Canisius College.
Canisius College is private university located in Buffalo, NY.  The Canisius Golden Griffins hockey team plays in the Atlantic Hockey Association (AHA).  Former Stars forward Kyle Gibbons is a senior for the Golden Griffins this season.

Zack is starting at Canisius at a good time, as the program will get a new home starting the 2014-15 season, thanks to a generous donation by the Buffalo Sabres and Kim and Terry Pegula.  Click here and here to read more about that.

I've always been a big fan of Zack's play, so I'm very happy to be posting this news.  Heading into the 2012-13 season, Zack was a virtual unknown.  He was one of the youngest players on the team, fighting for ice time at a position that isn't very forgiving for rookies.  But he stood tall, and quickly proved he could be a valuable part of the Stars' d-corps.  Zack played 56 games last season and was +24.  Impressive numbers for such a young player at this level.

Congrats again to Zack!  Very well deserved.  Canisius is very lucky to be getting such a quality defenseman.  I do not know if Zack will start at Canisius in the fall of 2014 or 2015, but I would guess it will be in 2014.
