— ZackPittman (@ZackPittman1) November 10, 2013Canisius College is private university located in Buffalo, NY. The Canisius Golden Griffins hockey team plays in the Atlantic Hockey Association (AHA). Former Stars forward Kyle Gibbons is a senior for the Golden Griffins this season.
Zack is starting at Canisius at a good time, as the program will get a new home starting the 2014-15 season, thanks to a generous donation by the Buffalo Sabres and Kim and Terry Pegula. Click here and here to read more about that.
I've always been a big fan of Zack's play, so I'm very happy to be posting this news. Heading into the 2012-13 season, Zack was a virtual unknown. He was one of the youngest players on the team, fighting for ice time at a position that isn't very forgiving for rookies. But he stood tall, and quickly proved he could be a valuable part of the Stars' d-corps. Zack played 56 games last season and was +24. Impressive numbers for such a young player at this level.
Congrats again to Zack! Very well deserved. Canisius is very lucky to be getting such a quality defenseman. I do not know if Zack will start at Canisius in the fall of 2014 or 2015, but I would guess it will be in 2014.
