Vinni Lettieri named USHL Forward of the Week

Congrats to Lincoln Stars forward Vinni Lettieri who was named the USHL Forward of the Week.  Click here to read the official USHL press release.  Here's an excerpt from the article:

Vinni Lettieri, F, Lincoln Stars: The Excelsior, MN native had a stellar week for the Stars, tallying five goals and leading Lincoln to a pair of wins.  On Friday, the 18-year-old recorded a hat trick, his second of the season, and tied a game high with a plus-three on-ice rating in a 5-2 win over the Tri-City Storm.  His goal in the second period held up to be the game-winner.

The University of Minnesota commit responded with a two-goal performance in the 4-3 win over the Storm on Saturday.  Lettieri finishes the regular season ranked second on the team in scoring with 56 points (28g, 28a) and leads the Stars with 28 goals.  He also ranks second on the team with a plus-29 on-ice rating.

I was very happy to see Vinni win this award as he really busted his butt this past weekend to score those five goals, and was only a few feet away from scoring an empty net goal Saturday night which would have given him hat tricks in back-to-back games.

Lettieri is a fun player to watch live as he always has a nose for the puck.  Although he lacks size, he certainly plays big and is not afraid to get his nose dirty in the corners and in front of the net.  In my opinion, he is Lincoln's best forward right now and you could argue he has been Lincoln's MVP the last few months.

Congrats again to Vinni!  Very well deserved.  Hopefully he keeps this hot streak going into the playoffs.

Great kid-well deserved award for Vinnie. If you have ever had a chance to talk with his family you know why vinny is such a great kid! By far the hardest working kid on the ice the last month or so along with ZAR and Dominick.
