The win improved Lincoln's record to 33-20-3 (69 points) , and they are still all alone in third place in the USHL Western Conference. The two teams behind the Stars in the standings (Waterloo and Omaha), did not play tonight, so Lincoln really helped themselves by getting the two points tonight. Scoring for the Stars tonight was: Eric Scheid (PP), Luke Johnson (PP), Phil Marinaccio, Riley Bourbonnais, Dominik Shine, and Justin Woods (empty-net goal). Paul LaDue and Vinni Lettieri both picked up 3 assists a piece. Michael Bitzter stopped 23 of 25 shots on goal for his 21st win of the season.
I will update this article with a full recap sometime on Sunday when I have more time. In the meantime, please leave a comment below!
Huge weekend as the Stars picked up all four possible points to distance themselves from Waterloo and Omaha. The Stars picked a perfect time to score 12 goals over the course of two games. Hopefully they can keep that momentum going into next weekend when they face Sioux Falls and Omaha at the IceBox.
Go Stars.
