Congrats to Tommy Schutt!

Lincoln Stars forward Tommy Schutt announced on Twitter this afternoon that he has committed to play college hockey at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut, starting the fall of 2013.

Tommy is in the middle of his second season with the Lincoln Stars.  In 69 regular season games with the Stars, Schutt has scored 29 points (11g, 18a) to go along with 69 penalty minutes and is +18.  Schutt was a 2010 USHL Entry Draft pick of the Lincoln Stars.  Tommy arrived in Lincoln after finishing his high school hockey career at Minnetonka High School in Minnesota.

Schutt will join a Quinnipiac hockey program that currently has two former Stars on the roster, defensemen Mike Dalhuisen and Cory Hibbeler .  Dalzy is a senior this season, while Hibbs is a junior.  Schutt and Hibbeler will be teammates next season for the 2013-14 Qunnipiac University Bobcats hockey team.

I've always enjoyed watching Tommy play.  In my opinion, he's one of the hardest working players on the team.  He's a guy you can play both on the powerplay and on the penalty kill.  Very versatile.  He may not be the guy who puts up a ton of points, but he plays with tons of energy and has a huge heart.

Best of luck to Tommy at Quinnipiac!
