B³ Postgame Recap: Lincoln 2, Waterloo 10

The Waterloo Blackhawks scored 8 powerplay goals tonight at Young Arena and cruised past the Lincoln Stars by a score of 10-2.  Lincoln went 0-for-3 on the powerplay, while Waterloo went 8-for-15.  Lincoln was whistled for 118 minutes in penalties and Waterloo was whistled for 15 minutes.  That's not a typo.

Needless to say, USHL referee Tommy Albindia won't be getting a x-mas card from Chad Johnson or Jimmy McGroarty anytime soon.

I'm not going to spend any considerable time with this recap.  Ugly game all around.  Best to forget this horrible excuse for a hockey match and move on.  If you'd like to vent and leave a comment below, please do so.

Lincoln will be back in action this Saturday night at the IceBox against the Tri-City Storm.  I'm sure there will be suspensions handed down, so hopefully there will be enough players left to field a full team against the Storm.

Wishing everyone out there a happy and healthy 2013!

Go Stars.

It is what it is...........guess it's a lesson that playing dirty doesn't win the game. Happy New Year!

All I can say is we'll have a nice welcome party for Mr. Albindinia next time he's in Lincoln. When did this become the United States Hosiery League? Skippy Prince seems to want these kids to play like girls. It's not no-touch hockey! hell-the NAHL lets the kids play more than this league.

I stopped listening after the second period.....frustrated beyond belief! Checked the blog to see 2 - 10! What in the world happened?! A continued referee debacle? Just curious.......!

With the ejections of multiple players & it appears one of the coaches, can anyone speculate what kind of suspensions and/or league fines is the team looking at following this game?

Lincoln has no one to blame but its self for the 10-2 Loss to the blackhawks.Don't blame Albinda it was all on the coaching staff and players. The league will come down hard on Lincoln as it should that was a very ugly game.

That's ridiculous! That Guy has called lopsided games against the stars for years! He should be disciplined by the league! Waterloo's players were throwing cheap shots all night! And their "tough " Guy goes after shutt? Linesmen should have stepped in after the first punch! CJ needs to support his players and look into the mirror when he makes statements about people not buying in to the "TEAM".

No discipline!! Lets start playing hockey in 2013 & forget the other BS.

I'm probably wrong, its been a few years since I check the rules, and please correct me if I am. But a "game ejection" or a "misconduct" penalty does not mean a suspension. A "game misconduct" means at least a 1 game suspension. That would mean only Shine, Schutt, and McGroarty would not be able to participate in at least 1 game. Depending on how the league looks at DeVito,McKee and Treichroeb's penalties, they should not be suspended. The referee did not think they were flagrant enough to be game misconduct penalties just game ejection penalties (McKee & Schutt). And I think that was to remove the possibility of a line brawl.

Coach needs to be at practice to teach discipline! So to blame players who have to guess from game to game how hard to play is ridiculous! So call it BS or no discipline or whatever! This league and these refs really need to get on the same page! Last night ..after his spaghetti dinner. Albendia absolutely cost the stars a game

This must be what they got Schutt on, so unless Coach appeals, he would be suspended a game

Rule 629 Leaving the Players’ Bench or Penalty Bench (a) A major plus a game misconduct penalty shall be assessed to any player who leaves the players’ bench or the penalty bench during an altercation or for the purpose of starting an altercation. These penalties are in addition to any other penalties that may be assessed during the incident. Substitutions made prior to the altercation shall not be penalized under this rule provided the players so substituting do not enter the altercation

Until this league mans up and starts handing out suspensions for "diving" to draw a penalty they'll continue to be looking up to the candian leagues. But then I guess Omaha and Cedar Rapids (and Waterloo) would have to relearn how to play the game 5 on 5

Do you think maybe it's time Lincoln picked up another defensemen?? How about one that can play the game the way it's supposed to be played.

From Pointstreak: Mike McKee suspended five (5) games and assistant coach Jimmy McGroarty suspended four (4) games for their action in the game @ Waterloo on Monday, Dec. 31.

I blaime the coaches for the way this team is playing. They don't have a handle on some of these players. If they can't play without these penalties then they should sit out. I'm sure most of the team that plays hockey as it should be played must be sick of these guys who can't control themselves. Some of these guys are letting down their teammates and the fans. Time to play real hockey.
