Bitzer, Woods, Johnson named to USA Junior Select Team

Quick article to congratulate three members of the Lincoln Stars who were chosen today to represent Team USA at the 2012 World Junior A Challenge, which will take place Nov. 5-11 in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada.  Stars goaltender Michael Bitzer, defensemen Justin Woods, and forward Luke Johnson were all named to the Team USA Junior Select Team.

Here's an excerpt from the article linked above:

The U.S. Junior Select Team that will compete in the 2012 World Junior A Challenge was announced today. The under-20 tournament takes place Nov. 5-11 in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. Team USA has won three of the last four tournaments (2008-10) and placed third in 2011.

Twenty-one of the 22 players are from the United States Hockey League.

The U.S. faces Canada West in an exhibition game on Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. ADT. Tournament play gets underway Nov. 5 vs. Canada East at 7:30 p.m. AST. The complete schedule is listed below.

I assume if the first exhibition game is on Saturday, November 3th, the three players mentioned above will probably miss four games with the Stars (11/2, 11/3, 11/9, 11/10).

Congrats to all three players!  What an honor to represent your hockey in an international hockey tournament such as this.
