Congrats to Dax Lauwers!

According to the Lincoln Stars official Twitter account, defenseman Dax Lauwers committed to play collegiate hockey for Northeastern University today.

Click here to read the tweet.  Northeastern University is located in Boston, MA.

Lauwers played a total of 122 games over the course of two seasons with the Lincoln Stars.  After completing the 2009-10 season with the Stars, Dax committed to the Army Black Knights where he played the 2010-11 season.  Lauwers decided after that one season with Army that he wanted to pursue other options, so he came back to Lincoln to play the 2011-12 season.

Dax will start at Northeastern in the fall of 2012.  Northeastern University has been a popular college among former and current Stars players.  That list includes former Stars defenseman Jake Newton, forward Brodie Reid, forward Garrett Vermeersch, defenseman Ben Oskroba, defenseman Colton Saucerman, and current forward Zach Aston-Reese (2013).  I guess you could call it a Lincoln-Northeastern pipeline.

Congrats once again to Dax!  A true warrior on the ice.  Dax was a big reason why the Stars had such a successful 2011-12 season.  He was a goaltenders best friend due to his shot-blocking prowess.  A leader on and off the ice.  He will be missed.  We wish him all the best next season in Boston.
