B³ Postgame Recap: Waterloo 5, Lincoln 2

The Lincoln Stars fell tonight at the IceBox to the Waterloo Blackhawks by a score of 5-2.  Waterloo now leads the best-of-five series, 1-0.  Click here to view the Pointstreak boxscore.

I will update this blog article with a full recap sometime tomorrow when I have more time.

Ugly loss tonight. Not sure how else to describe it. Lincoln wasn't physical enough, didn't crash the net enough, didn't forecheck as well as the Blackhawks, and generally looked asleep.  Lincoln outplayed Waterloo for the last 10 minutes of the second period, but that was it.  Waterloo wanted it more, and it showed.

Plenty of hockey yet to be played in this series, so there's no reason to get down.  Lincoln can play a lot better than they did tonight, and when they do, I have no doubt they can beat the Blackhawks.  The first step is bouncing back this Friday night at the IceBox with a 60 minute effort.

Go Stars.

For my money, I thought we outplayed them for much of the third too. A bad bounce coupled to a breakdown led to the 4th goal and the penalty call was horrible to the point where the coaches should have taken one for the team there and given Pitoscia whatfor...but we need to get much much more physical with this team especially down low in both ends. Can't let Cammarata camp out beside the net.

You can't let anyone camp in front of the net and expect good things to happen. I'd hope that we see a different team tonight versus Wednesday night. Hope the crowd is a little better tonight as well. I was disappointed that there were not more people at the game.
