B³ Postgame Recap: Waterloo 3, Lincoln 4

What a great atmosphere tonight at the IceBox!  Even better than that, a win!

The Lincoln Stars stormed back from a 3-1 deficit tonight to beat the Waterloo Blackhawks at the IceBox by a score of 4-3.  Click here to view the Pointstreak boxscore.

The five-game series between the Stars and the Blackhawks is now tied up at 1-1.  Game 3 will occur tomorrow (Saturday) evening in Waterloo, IA at Young Arena.  The puck will drop at 7:05pm for that game.  Click here to view the Pointstreak USHL playoff bracket.

Outstanding effort tonight by the entire team.  The Blackhawks had their moments, but I thought the Stars dominated most of the game.  Lincoln had a few bad bounces go against them and fell behind early, but the boys never quit and fought like dogs to get back into the game.  Very proud of all of them.  They could have packed it in after going down 3-1, but they continued to grind it out and showed a lot of heart.

Scoring for the Stars tonight was Luke Johnson, Tommy Schutt (PP), Kevin Roy (SH), and Dominik Shine (GWG).  Charles Williams was a bit shaky to begin the game, but he bounced back with an outstanding effort between the pipes to earn the win.  CW3 stopped 25 of 28 shots to collect his fourth win of the playoffs.  Waterloo goaltender Stephon Williams stopped 37 of 41 in the loss.  Both teams went 1-for-5 on the powerplay.

I promise I'll update this article tomorrow with a full recap when I have time to sit down and collect my thought.  I'll also post pictures from the Wednesday and Friday night games.

If you had an opportunity to go to this game tonight but stayed at home, shame on you!  It was definitely a playoff atmosphere tonight at the IceBox.  The true fans were just as loud as a sellout crowd!  Props to all of you who showed up to support the team!

The train rolls on!

Go Stars.
