So the Stars are only one point out of first place, and have one game in hand over Omaha. Click here to view the current USHL standings.
I just got home after watching the jersey auction, so I'm going to post a few things really quick and then update this article with a full recap sometime on Sunday.
As I mentioned above, the Stars found themselves once again in a two-goal hole after the first period. Despite outplaying Des Moines during the first twenty minutes, the Bucs were able to score two and take a 2-0 lead into the first intermission.
In the second and third periods, the Stars responded by scoring five unanswered goals to win the game. Scoring goals tonight for Lincoln was Kevin Roy, Jared Hanson, Dominik Shine, Markus McCrea, and Matt Friese. Stars goaltender Charles Williams stopped 20 of 22 shots to record his fourth straight win.
With his three points (1g, 2a) on the night, Kevin Roy now has a total of 86 points on the season, which broke the all-time Stars record for most points in a season (83 points) which was set by Chris Fournier back in 2000-01.
After the game, the Stars had their annual "Jersey Off Our Backs" auction to benefit the American Cancer Society. A grand total of $47,150 was raised tonight! The St. Patrick's Day themed jerseys were designed by Stars trainer Corey Courtney.
