B³ Postgame Recap 2/21: Tri-City 3, Lincoln 6

The Lincoln Stars bounced back in a big way at the IceBox tonight with a gutsy 6-3 win over the visiting Tri-City Storm.  Click here to view the Pointstreak boxscore.  The win was Lincoln's fifth in a row at the IceBox.

With the victory and the two points, the Stars improved to 25-14-3 (53 points) on the season.  With Omaha's 6-3 loss to the Sioux City Musketeers tonight, Lincoln is now only two points behind the first place Lancers in the USHL Western Conference standings.  The Stars also have two games in hand over Omaha.  Click here to view the current USHL standings.

The Stars line of Kevin Roy-Dominik Shine-Luke Johnson was incredible tonight.  Roy finished with four points (3 goals, 1 assist), Shine had five points (2g, 3a), and Luke Johnson had three points (all assists).  Will Suter scored the other goal for the Stars tonight.

Stars finished 2-for-2 on the powerplay (only two powerplays, refs?  really?), while the Storm finished 2-for-4 with the man advantage.  Lincoln goaltender Charles Williams stopped 24 of 27 shots on goal to record his 11th win of the season.  CW3 is now 11-3-2 on the season.

If he keeps up his current pace of 1.67 points scored per game, Kevin Roy could finish the regular season with over 50 goals scored and 100 total points.  Incredible.  His second goal tonight was a beauty.  Dragged down from behind by a TC player, Roy still had enough left in him to snipe the puck past TC Storm goaltender Adam Wilcox.

I've got to get some shut-eye, but I'll try to update this article with a full recap sometime tomorrow.  Despite the two-referee system, there were a LOT of missed calls tonight.  If you listened to head coach Chad Johnson on the radio after the game, you heard him mention some of those bad calls, which is rare of him to do.  More on that tomorrow.

Enjoy the win tonight, folks!  Please leave a comment if you wish!

Go Stars.
