Paul Ladue and Jackson Teichroeb earn USHL weekly awards

Congrats to Lincoln Stars defenseman Paul Ladue, and goaltender Jackson Teichroeb for winning two weekly awards from the USHL today!  Paul was named "CCM Defensive Player of the Week," while Jackson was named "Reebok USHL Goaltender of the Week."  Click here to read the official press release from the USHL.  Here's an excerpt:

Ladue recorded six points (1g, 5a) and a plus-four rating to help the Stars win all four of their games during the week and take over the top spot in the Western Conference standings.  He assisted on the game-winning goal in three straight games – Tuesday’s 6-2 win vs. Sioux City, Friday’s 3-2 win over Sioux Falls, and again during Saturday’s 2-1 victory against Omaha.  The 19-year-old then was the hero on Sunday as he scored the game-winning goal with just four seconds remaining in the third period to give the Stars a 6-5 victory over Tri-City.  Ladue, a native of Grand Forks, North Dakota, is second among USHL defensemen with 10 points (2g, 8a) and is tied for third overall in the League with a plus-nine rating.

Teichroeb posted a 1.67 goals-against-average and a .936 save percentage while earning three victories for the Stars.  He opened the week stopping 22 shots in Tuesday’s 6-2 win at Sioux City.  The 19-year-old from London, Ontario then earned victories in consecutive nights, making 26 saves in the 3-2 win over Sioux Falls on Friday and then stopping 25 shots in the 2-1 victory against Omaha on Saturday.  Teichroeb has won his last four starts and now leads all USHL goaltenders with seven victories this season and is third with a 2.08 GAA.

The current five-game winning streak has been a total team effort, but both Ladue and Teichroeb have certainly stood out and are playing their best hockey of the season right now.  You could argue that the Stars could have earned a clean sweep of the awards since forward Kevin Roy scored 8 points (6g, 2a) in the four games last week that Lincoln won.  Casey Bailey of the Omaha Lancers, who won the offensive player of the week, scored 7 points (6g, 1a) in three games last week.  The Lancers went 1-2 in those three games, however.

Regardless, it's nice to see the league acknowledge the efforts made by some of the Stars players.  Congrats once again to Paul and Jackson!
