Congrats to Paul LaDue!

According to Brad Elliott Schlossman, reporter for the Grand Forks (ND) Herald, Lincoln Stars defenseman Paul LaDue has committed to play collegiate hockey for the University of North Dakota.  Click here to read more.

Click here to see the twitter announcement from Schlossman.  The University of North Dakota is located in Grand Forks, ND which also happens to be the hometown of Ladue.

In 15 games for the Stars this season, LaDue has scored 10 points (2g, 8a), is +10 (leads the team), and has two game winning goals on the season.  In my opinion, LaDue has been one of the big reasons why the Stars have played so well this season.  He's a very steady, composed defenseman who is more than capable offensively.

Congrats to Paul!  What an honor to be able to play your college hockey in front of your hometown.  UND is one of the best hockey programs in the country as well.  I have been told that LaDue is planning on attending UND starting the fall of 2013, which means he'd be back in Lincoln next season as well, but that could change depending on player personnel at UND in the next year or two.

I would be very surprised if Paul's not in Lincoln next year. UND graduates only one D, bringing in Jordan Schmaltz, and already has an extra D this year. The only way would be if a UND defensemen leaves early, and Schmaltz bails, but don't see that happening right now. As a Stars fan and a UND alum, I'm very excited about this! :)

Thanks for the comment, Unknown.

The selfish fan in me hopes Ladue will be back, but watching him play this season....I think he's ready for UND next year. I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens at UND this season, and in the summer.
