B³ Pregame Report: Lincoln Stars vs. Sioux City Musketeers 11/8

The Lincoln Stars will play a rare Tuesday night game this week when they will go on the road to face the Sioux City Musketeers.  Faceoff will be at 7:00pm CST.

You can follow the boxscore online via Pointstreak, listen to Stars radio announcer Mike Melbye on KLMS 1480 AM, or watch the game live on FASTHockey for a fee.

This will be the second time these two teams will face each other this season.  Back on 10/15/11 in Sioux City, the Stars dominated the Muskies and won by a score of 4-1.  It was in that game that Lincoln forward Dominik Shine injured his knee after a questionable hit by a Muskies player.  The Stars players took exception to the hit, and roughed up the Musketeers before beating them on the scoreboard as well.

The Musketeers enter this game with a record of 3-7-0 (6 points), and are tied for last place in the USHL Western Conference with the Tri-City Storm.  Sioux City is coming off an impressive 5-0 shutout win last Friday night against the Sioux Falls Stampede.  However, before that win, the Muskies had lost three in a row and six of their last seven.  They have been a "Jekyll and Hyde" sort of team this season.  You never really know what to expect from them game to game.

The Stars are coming of a weekend which saw them split a two-game homestand against the Fargo Force.  After losing 4-2 on Friday 11/4, the Stars put in a strong effort on Saturday 11/5 and pounded the Force by a score of 8-3.  In that 8-3 blowout victory, Stars forward Kevin Roy scored 5 points (2g, 3a), while forward Will Suter added 4 points (1g, 3a).  Speaking of Will Suter, he played 10 games for the Sioux City Musketeers in 2010-11 before spending the rest of the season in the NAHL playing for the Wichita Falls Wildcats.  I'm sure Suter will be pumped up to play against the team that released him last season.

I ran out of time tonight to get this pregame report up, so I apologize for the briefness of it.  I should be available to do a live chat during the game tomorrow night, so stay tuned for that.  I'll post the chat article sometime tomorrow afternoon.

Go Stars.

I'm sure you noticed it, but Green Bay and Sioux City swapped some players over the past couple of days so there will be some new faces in the lineup tonight. Here is the link:

Too bad they are talking about some snow tonight, otherwise I was thinking about a road trip.

Yeah, I saw that as well. Just ran out of time last night to get it in the article. Heard some rumors that Schwartz wasn't happy in Sioux City, thus he asked for a trade. Not sure if it was a conflict with SC's new head coach, or if Schwartz wanted to be closer to home (he's originally from Wisconsin).

Good return going back to the Muskies. IMO, Schmaltz has never really stood out to me. Surprised that so many think he'll be a first round NHL draft pick. I just don't see it.

I figured you had seen it, there is no scooping you :-) I thought the same thing in that it looked like SC got ALOT back in return on that deal.

Correcting my earlier post...."Schmaltz" not "Schwartz."
