Stars assistant coach Andy Schneider moves on

Lost in the recent excitement of the start of the Lincoln Stars' 2011-12 season was the news that assistant coach Andy Schneider has left the team.  A few blog readers and myself noticed a few weeks ago that Andy's bio was missing from the Lincoln Stars website.  According to a recent Lincoln Journal Star article (which I'm not going to link because they do a inferior job at covering the Stars and don't deserve the recognition), Andy decided to move back to Grand Forks, ND to work for his family's business.

Per the article, the Stars will not hire a replacement.  What I find odd is that the Stars removed his bio from the website, yet have not put out any kind of official release about it.  From what I was told, the decision Andy made happened months ago.  Schneider will still help the Lincoln Stars by scouting hockey players in his area.

In my opinion, this is a big loss to the team and it was my feeling that Andy deserved to be recognized.  Schneider had a ton of great experience from his playing time here in Lincoln, at the University of North Dakota, and in the pros as a defenseman.  That experience I'm sure was valuable in his teachings to the Lincoln players last season, specifically the defenseman.  I thought it was great that we had an assistant coach last season who could concentrate on defense.

Good luck to Andy with all of his future endeavors.  He will be missed.
