Former Star Jimmy Hayes signs with the Chicago Blackhawks

The official Lincoln Stars website is reporting that former Lincoln Stars forward Jimmy Hayes has signed with the NHL Chicago Blackhawks.  Last week I reported that Hayes had signed an ATO (amateur try-out agreement) with the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL.  The IceHogs are the AHL affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks, and home of former Stars favorite Brandon Bollig.

According to this story, Jimmy Hayes has now signed a three-year contract with the Blackhawks, which begins at the start of the 2011-12 season.  Hayes, who just completed his junior season at Boston College University, is a former second round draft pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.    The Maple Leafs traded the rights to Hayes last June to the Chicago Blackhawks.

Congrats to Jimmy!  Always nice to see another former Star in the "big show."
