B³ Draft Coverage - 2011 USHL Futures Draft

Starting this morning at 10:00am CST, the Lincoln Stars will participate in the 2011 USHL Futures Draft. You can follow the draft online here. The USHL Futures Draft consists of six rounds, as each USHL team will select six players from the 1995 birth year age group.  Some recent players on the Stars roster that were originally drafted in the futures draft are Dominik Shine, Cole Martin, and Zach Frye.  USHL teams use this particular draft to pick some of the best young players in hopes that in the future they will develop into full-time players.

Click here to read a FAQ from the USHL website about the Futures Draft.  Great information in that article if you want to learn more.  Click here for another article from the USHL website about the Futures draft.  According the article I linked in the previous sentence, the Stars will pick 12th overall in the first round.  Click here to see the players picked by the Stars last season in the 2010 Futures Draft.

Unfortunately, I am not going to be able to follow the draft live as it happens, but I will update this blog article later today with all of the futures draft picks made by the Lincoln Stars.  Stay tuned for that.
