Former Star Brandon Bollig in the news....sort of

Thanks to the blog reader who brought this to my attention.  I appreciate it!

Former Lincoln Star and fan-favorite Brandon Bollig was in the news today after being involved in a glass-shattering hit during a Rockford IceHogs vs. Lake Erie Monsters AHL game that was played on March 4th, 2011.  Bollig, who is a forward on the IceHogs squad, narrowly missed being checked into the boards by Monsters enforcer Patrick Bordeleau, who then smashed into the glass, shattering it to pieces.

The hit made it on the national Puck Daddy Blog, as well as ESPN's "Pardon the Interruption" TV show today.  I've included a couple of videos below, so hit play, turn up the volume, and check 'em out.  Bollig, who is wearing #18 in red, fought Bordeleau a few minutes after the glass-smashing hit.  I've included a video of the fight, also.  Enjoy!

By the way....yes, the ice is tinted pink. The Lake Erie Monsters were holding their "Pink the Rink" night to benefit the American Cancer Society.
