Stars make a trade

Per the USHL Pointstreak transactions page, the Lincoln Stars picked up forward Rasmus Juell from the Cedar Rapids Roughriders today in a trade.  It is unknown what the Stars gave up to get Juell from the Roughriders.  I would assume the Stars traded a futures, or entry draft pick, but I am not sure.

Juell ('91) is a 5'10", 180 pound forward from Oslo, Norway.  In 24 games played this season with Cedar Rapids, Juell recorded 10 points (5 goals, 5 assists) and 13 penalty minutes.  Click here to view his USHL stats.  Click here to view his overall statistics.  According to this USHL article, Juell committed to play collegiate hockey at Northeastern University.

Juell got off to a very hot start this season, scoring 7 points (3g, 4a) in his first seven games.  His play after that seemed to trail off quite a bit, as he only scored 3 points (2g, 1a) in his next seventeen games.

Each USHL team is allowed to roster two "import" players, and I assume Juell qualifies as an import since he's from Norway.  I'm fairly certain that Stars defenseman Matt Prapavessis (Canada) is the only other "import" player on the roster.

Also per the Pointstreak transaction page, Lincoln placed defenseman Kyle Quick on the 45-day injured reserve list.  I assume that by moving Quick to the IR list, the Stars were able to add Juell to the lineup without having to drop, or trade an existing player.

Edit:  According to a post made on the Cedar Rapids message board, Lincoln traded a fifth round draft pick for Juell.  Still not sure if that was a futures, or an entry draft pick.

I see on the transactions page that Petey got a 1 game suspension. something set him off at the end of the game Saturday cause he had to be held back by a linesman to keep him from taking somebody's head off.

Good catch, Mac. That wasn't on their earlier when I was looking at the transaction page. They must have just added it. Guess that means Petey won't be in the lineup this Wednesday night against Sioux City.

Sam I am said...

I hope this turns out to be a good trade. Hopefully this turns into a case of the player needing a change of location to get that spark back.

Yeti, what about Teemu Tiitinen? the Stars website lists his home as Finland.

From what I've been able to find out, Teemu has dual citizenship (Finland and USA).

There wre a couple of things that happened towards the end of the game. Ceder Rapids took a page out of the Green Bay playbook by taking cheap shots at the guys all night. They complained to the Ref, but to no avail. We got caught with a phantom hand pass to stop a rush, and cause a faceoff. Then on the way to retrieve a iced puck the Stars player was tripped which allowed the empty net goal. I don't remember who that was but I thought it was Tate. Petey was crosschecked in the shoulders or above after the wistle. He spun around and went off of the CR player. The officials were right there to stop Petey but evidently they were blind to the crosscheck.
