B³ Postgame Recap 1/8: Lincoln 4, Omaha 3

Whoo Hoo!  Stars win!

Lincoln Stars win a close one tonight in Omaha against the Lancers, 4-3.  Click here to view the Pointstreak boxscore.

Scoring goals for Lincoln tonight was Brent Tate (two), Garrett Peterson, and Matt Prapavessis.  Tate's third period goal was the eventual game-winner.  Stars goaltender Kevin Murdock stood on his head again Saturday night, as he stopped 39 of 42 shots on goal to record his second straight win.  Omaha outshot Lincoln 42-27.  Stars went 1-for-3 on the powerplay, while Omaha went 2-for-6 with the man advantage.

I was not in attendance for this game, and I was only able to listen to bits and pieces of the radio broadcast, so I'd really appreciate hearing from the Lincoln fans who witnessed the big win tonight.  Stars radio broadcaster Mike Melbye was really animated after Omaha scored their third goal, which he said was directed in by a Lancer high stick.  Melbye also said the first goal Omaha scored shouldn't have counted.  According to Melbye, the puck hit the top crossbar, bounced straight down, but never crossed the goal line.  From the sounds of it, the Stars once again had to battle the zebra's tonight along with the Lancers.

Stay tuned for snapshots of the game from Brandon Anderson and Jeff White who were in attendance.  I hope to have those up on the blog either later tonight, or tomorrow morning.

Gutsy road win over a very good Omaha team.  Two game winning streak!  Stars back in action at home next weekend.  Enjoy the big win tonight!

Go Stars!

winning in front of 7,000+ Omaha fans on their special promotion night is awesome! I hope to see a photo of how much black was mixed in with the whiteout. That's what you get for trying to use our fans to help you set an attendance record ;)

What a big weekend, 4 points from our in-state rivals and back in the mix in the playoff race. Props to Brent Tate on the multi-goal game. We need another win streak!

Way to go Stars - what an awesome way to start the new year with a 4 point weekend! Great job battling through to bring home the win tonight - looking forward to a repeat of that win over the Lancers in our own barn on Friday night! Go Stars!!

Wow, what a win for the stars tonight. It really was a great win for them playing in such a hostile enviroment. I hope they are proud of themselves for working hard and never giving up.
Can't wait until the end of the month when we will be in Lincoln to watch their games live. Stars, relish this night. It really was a big win for you guys.

The Stars again showed what a great team they are. The zebras were loose and Matthews was being himself but they pulled it off! This is why I am a Stars fan!! Way to go!
