B³ Postgame Recap 1/21: Sioux City 4, Lincoln 8

Courtesy of Brandon Anderson
My arm is tired from high-fiving so much tonight!!

The Lincoln Stars scored a whopping six goals in the third period tonight at the IceBox to beat the Sioux City Musketeers, 8-4.  Click here to view the Pointstreak boxscore.  Stars forward Ryan Dzingel continued his hot streak as he scored three goals (hat trick!) and one assist to lead the Stars on offense.  Zinger was also +5 on the night.  Dzingel has scored seven points (4g, 3a) in the last two games against the Muskies.  Brent Tate got the "Gordie Howe hat trick" tonight with one goal, three assists, and one fight.  John McCarron added one goal and three assists also.  The Tate-Dzingel-McCarron line accounted up 5 goals, 7 assists, and were a combined +11 tonight against Sioux City.  Wow, wow, wow.

I'm going to update this blog article Saturday morning with a full recap, so check back here tomorrow for that.  I'll post pictures from the game tomorrow morning also.

The Stars will go on the road tomorrow night to face the Dubuque Fighting Saints.  I believe we'll be chatting live here on the B³ for that game, but I'm not 100% sure.

Enjoy the win tonight!  Keep that train rollin'!

Go Stars!

Please leave a comment and tell me what you thought of the game tonight!

i wasnt able to make the game, gave my tickets to my daughter and her friend, high school seniors.. they left before the end and i couldnt believe it but they had reasons..
i took my son to his "baseball practice" ugh!!
listened on the radio to an awesome effort by our guys to not only take the lead but to put it away when we needed it.. i actually got worried for a few minutes, but that was all.. these guys are starting to be like the teams we all remember and i can see lots more good results like this coming in the future...
thanks for the hard fought game and cant wait to do a B3 blog tomorrow night!!
GO STARS!!!

The game started much better than the one on Wednesday. I did get a little worried when they let two quick goals in during the third letter SC pull within 1 point. Then something amazing happened. This is the something that Mike and Jimmy talked about all last year, but never seemed to emerge. Mike and Chad have talked about it this year as well. This team never seems to quit, but last night they took it to the next level and not only did they not quit, they played to win the game. they did not protect the one goal lead, they played like they were down a goal, not up one. Peterson's goal was a little lob at the goalie, that went in. He just flat missed it. I know we pick on the goalie a lot, but with that goal let's just say, "Hey goalie you suck"ed.
The only disappointing thing is that the team no longer celebrates the win with the fans. In section F we have the red lights going and many of us are dancing the train. Damn, I miss that from the guys.

it was great to see the Stars get that win last night. it was a very fun game with a nice crowd. i wouldn't have cared if the score was 4-5, because a win is a win. but, it was great to see the Stars fight back and score 3 more goals. they definitely didn't quit, and they played hard for the entire game. i hope that we can take advantage of Dubuque's current situation (them being on a losing streak and losing confidence) and get a win tonight. that would be awesome.
