Parking at the IceBox

<----Click picture to enlarge

We're less than 48 hours from the Stars home opener against the Youngstown Phantoms Friday night, so I thought it might be a good idea to recap some of the parking changes that have been made since most of us last visited the IceBox last spring.  Since then, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln has taken over the former State Fairgrounds area, which is now called "Innovation Campus."  A lot of buildings have been razed around the IceBox, so it will look a lot different Friday night if you haven't visited the area for awhile.

Here's a quote from the Stars website regarding the new parking changes:
A reminder to season ticket holders--to expedite the parking process, please have your red parking pass visible to the attendants as you enter the grounds.  All entrances will have "express" and "cash" lanes available to incoming traffic, and all three entrances to the grounds will be open (east, west, south).  Arrive early to avoid the rush.
If you're not a season ticket holder, and you don't have the red parking pass, you will be required to pay $3 per car to enter Innovation Campus.  As stated above, there will be three entrances to the campus area, and at each of these three entrances there will be UNL parking attendants who will be checking for parking passes and collecting monies.

So what are the three entrances into the Innovation Campus area?  Click on the picture above to enlarge the parking map and see where these three entrances are located.  These are the only three places where you will be allowed to enter.  The parking map I've attached above is for UNL basketball parking, but it shows the three entrances really well on the map.  Those three entrances are labeled on the map as "Public Cashier Entrance," and "Donor Permit Entrance."

Because this is the Stars home opener, and the UNL parking attendants will most likely be struggling to keep up with the traffic flow coming into the campus area, I would recommend leaving 15-20 minutes earlier than you normally would.  Better to be at the IceBox a little early than sitting in a traffic jam and missing any part of the pregame festivities.

If I've missed anything, or if there's anything you'd like to talk about related to this topic, please leave a comment below.  Thanks.

If there is no basketball game, are we restricted on where we can park? Ticket info didn't have any specifics on where to park, but I'm guessing when there is a BB game we won't be allowed to park in the UNL donor areas. Also, I assume the area marked as Stars Hockey parking is for the Galaxy Club members?

I believe you are correct. If a UNL baskeball game isn't being played at the same time, you should be able to park anywhere. The only places off limits are those just west of the IceBox where Galaxy Club members and season ticket holders in the new north stage zone have reserved parking.

i do realize that this is probably an old map of the fairgrounds, but just to show how little the UNL folks care about the STARS, they still call our home the BEEF BARN!!!
glad we got the name changed to the ICE BOX a long time ago. like 14 years ago!!!
