Note from BT and Yeti

Just a note for our readers:

Comments will not be approved on the blog for the time being. Yeti and I are tired of sorting through the mess on here, and everyone just needs to take a step back and relax. The incessant complaining about the coaching staff is already getting out of hand, and the season is one week old.

Posters are starting to gripe with each other and call each other out; we're talking double digit posts that have been disapproved because of attacks on other bloggers.

Much of the problem is due to the fact that 95% of the comments on here come from posters listed "Anonymous." Therefore, from here on out, you will be required to register for the board with a gmail account in order to post under one consistent screen name (it's very easy to set one up and create a name if you're a true fan, and too time consuming to do if you just come here to flame the coaches and other posters). This will happen in the next few days. We don't want to turn off commenting altogether, because fan interaction is what makes the blog work, but this is getting ridiculous. Obviously you can always be anonymous theoretically, but at least we know what your name is so you can stand by your comments and not just show up here as "Anonymous" and spew crap. It's getting old.

Everyone can have his/her opinion. Fine. But that doesn't mean yours is better than everybody else's, so everyone needs to stop acting like it is and just relax. Take a couple days off. The Stars are 1-2, big deal. They have a great chance for redemption against Waterloo on Friday night at the Ice Box. Let's make things right. We'll have a preview of the game in a few days and also remember, Friday is Breast Cancer Awareness night. I think that should be a good reminder for us all that there is more to life than getting upset about a 1-2 junior hockey team with a passionate coach who fights for his players 100%.

Sincerely,

BT and Yeti

Edit:  This is Yeti now.  I want to thank BT for writing the message above while I was sitting in airplanes all day today.  There are a few things I want to mention.  When I first created this blog back in February of '09, I had no idea it would become as popular as it is today.  As our popularity climbed, I made it a point to make the blog as user friendly as I could.  Keeping the blog updated with fresh information is something BT and I take pride in.  We do it for all the other die-hard fans out there.  However, it's a lot of work also.  Until just recently, keeping the blog updated with something I really enjoyed doing.  As of late, with all the negative comments we have to wade through on a daily basis, it just isn't very fun at all.  The comments I've had to read (and delete) the past couple of days made me sick to my stomach.  I'm not sure where this sense of entitlement comes from with some of our fans, but it disgusts me.  If you have such strong opinions on the current coaching staff, I would recommend you email someone within the Stars organization.  We're a fan blog, nothing more.  I don't know what goes on with the team behind closed doors, and I don't want to know.  I have no problems with constructive criticism, but personal attacks, whether they are towards a player, coach, fellow blogger, or whomever...aren't going to get posted here.  The anonymous, drive-by attacks are done.

I'll probably extend this "cool down period" for the rest of this week, maybe longer.  Once I enable comments again, you will have to register in order to leave a comment.  I value the fans out there who contribute positively to this blog.  I don't want the negativity to drive them away.  I've already received some good feedback from this decision, and we will move forward.  If you require further clarification, or you would like to contact me personally, send me an email at:  lincolnstarshockey@gmail.com

Thanks.

 -Yeti (Tim)
