Since this entry is about meeting the Stars, I thought I would post some news about some former Stars players. Chris Vande Velde saw ice time with the Oilers last night, and Brandon Bollig was making an appearance with the Blackhawks earlier in the weekend. Former Star Jake Newton had a goal and an assist for the Ducks.

More info. After I posted the news above, I went and checked the team rosters. Bollig and Newton have been released from training camp and sent to their prospective AHL teams. Matt Bartkowski and Chris Vande Velde are still on the rosters for the Bruins and Oilers respectively.

Colby Cohen also had some ice time with Colorado Friday night against the Kings.

Those stars are so lucky to have such a great Blue Line Club following them and doing things for them.

Off the subject, does anyone have the current information on the parking arrangements? Specifically where do we park if we have the season ticket parking pass and what entrance do we use. I thought the ticket packets would have this info in them, but I don't believe it mentions anything.

also, in response to starstruck...

i have no idea, but i'm not very confident at all that the university has any kind of plan yet.. i'm planning to arrive down at the Ice Box very early on October 8th (home opener) to be on the safe side.. hopefully after a game or two they develop a good system. we haven't gotten our season tickets yet, but for the people who have... what is the "parking pass" like? is it a sticker, something you hang on your rearview mirror, or something you will actually need to roll down your window to show to an attendant?

Looks like there's another new article on the journal star blog... that's got to be a record! On a side note, I wonder when the captains will be announced?

Starstruck, according to Mickey, the pass will get you in the gate. then you can park where ever. As far as Stars management knows, UNL will have 2 lanes at the entrances. One for pass holders, the other for cash payments. And you should be able to come in any entrance

lincolnfan, it is a tag you hang on your rear view mirror

Thanks for all the updates, folks. I appreciate it. I've been on the road for work this week, so I have had very limited access to a computer. I know BT has been busy also. So thanks again for the links and news.

Very surprised that Jeff McMinimy was cut. I thought he had a really good camp, and was my pick for MVP of the camp all-star game. Really didn't notice him much at all during the four preseason games I watched, though. I really thought his scoring and grit was something the Stars could really use this season. He was a player I was really looking forward to watching in a Stars uniform this season. Very, very surprised at that. I expected to see some other names cut before McMinimy, but that's how it goes sometimes.

Hopefully the team can get healthy fast. I'm already having bad flashbacks from last season with all the early injuries.

I still think it's going to be a nightmare to park. Regardless if you have a parking pass or not, the UNL parking clowns will have to stop EVERY car to check. That's going to cause backups without a doubt. Just leave 15 minutes earlier than you normally would. For opening night, you might even want to leave earlier than that.

yeti, 2 things...
1.. getting into the fairgrounds is going to take alot more then 15 minutes, as usual the fair parkers will screw it up... i would guess at least 30 mins if not an hour!!!

2.. your out on the road?? would that mean you have a regular job??? i thought B3 and watching hockey was your job LOL

hey one more thing.. since the first regular season game is an away game, does that mean we get to start the year off with a layla good luck blogging win??

why keep bashing the LJS, you know Brent doesn't own the LJS he only works for them. One of these days they'll completely stop be thankful they publish what they do.

tzweeb brought this up earlier, but we will be doing a live blog/chat during the Tri-City game this Friday night. I won't be able to attend that game, but I will be available to run the chat. I'll post more about that later. If you can't attend the game, check us out and chat with other Stars fans while we listen/watch the game.

I'm hoping we can all move forward from the whole LJS/Brent Wagner thing. No sense in beating a dead horse. I'm just happy that the LJS is reporting news on the Stars. I'm hoping that this season their coverage will be better than what we saw last season, and this past offseason. The hockey fans in this area deserve better. We're just a fan blog, so we're limited with regard to insider team news. We're dependent on the LJS and/or the Stars website for that information. This blog has grown a lot in the past year and a half, and I think a big reason for that is the rabid nature of Lincoln Stars fans. We can't get enough of our favorite hockey team. I don't look at Brent or the LJS as competition. The more resources available to hockey fans, the better. I'm glad to see the LJS back on the Stars bandwagon, so to speak. We will continue doing our thing here at the B³, that's for certain. We've grown leaps and bounds the past year and a half, and I am proud of our "black and blue community." I'm very appreciative of the folks who continue to visit and contribute to our community.

Sorry to ramble on. Keep an eye out for more blog articles this week.
