Lincoln Stars Tryout Camp Dates Announced

Thanks to Layla for pointing out this information.  This bit of news was posted today on the official Lincoln Stars website.  Tryout dates and times for the 2010 Lincoln Stars tryout camp, which we be held once again at the Tranquility IcePlex in Omaha, NE.  We have talked about this topic today on the blog, so it's interesting this was made public this afternoon.  Very happy to see the camp held in Omaha again.

Sunday 6/13:  6:00pm-10:00pm
Monday 6/14:  8:00am-12:00pm and 4:00pm-8:00pm

Tuesday 6/15:  8:00am-12:00pm and 6:15pm-10:15pm
Wednesday 6/16:  11:30am-1:00pm (tryout all-star game)

Last year, the tryouts were held Friday thru Monday which allowed for a lot of fans to come up during the weekend to check out the scrimmages.  With the majority of the scrimmages held during the week, the fan turnout this year will be probably be less.  BT and I hope to attend as many of the scrimmages as possible.  We might need to recruit some "guest" bloggers to help out with some of the recaps if we are not available.  We'll talk more about that as we get closer to June.

Well that is some excellent news to see that is going to be in Omaha. Hopefully things are still a go come June.

Yeti/BT, I might be able to make the morning sessions, Tranqulity is about 5 minutes from my house and I may feel a cold coming on during those days, sniff sniff.

Not to self-promote, but I'll be putting evaluations up on my blog for most of the days if you want some help there.

I am so glad this has been announced. Hope I get a chance to go this year.

Does anybody know who the new coach will be. I feel bad for Jimmy but the numbers do speak for themselves

BellTolls said...

Anonymous, I assume you are the same person who has now made 3 anonymous posts referencing a "new coach" with nothing substantial to back it up. No one believes you right now because you don't post anything factual. Facts are: Jimmy is on the road recruiting right now for next season. So please, put up or shut up. Sorry to be harsh. Thanks.

P.S. If you want to send Yeti or me a private message, just leave a comment like usual and tell us not to post it, and we will not.

To BT

Actually first time in awhile I have posted and why would someone send you or Star Wars any private messages. What would be the purpose? If you can give me an answer I'll talk.

Does anybody know what happen to coaches comments after the games. Last one was the 17th of March hopefully they haven't given up.

I'd think at some point the website for the Stars could use a bit of an upgrade. I know it got a facelift a year or so, but some freshening up would be ok. That would seem to be a good summer project for them.

Anonymous at 1:36 AM,

I'm not sure why those haven't been updated. Like you said, I hope they didn't give up on posting them. I was hoping to listen to them this week sometime.

nutz4puckz,

We may need to take you up on your offer to help with recaps of the morning tryout scrimmages. We'll talk about that later as we get closer to June.

Just curious...how many readers out there are planning on going to one or both of the Stars road games this weekend? Friday night at Sioux Falls, and then Saturday night at Sioux City.

Anonymous said...

I would say they don't post the comments anymore because they are finally winning and why would they want the fans that are at the game to hear what Coach has to say.

BellTolls said...

To one of the Anonymouses at whenever you posted,

People send private messages because they don't feel comfortable posting some stuff on this blog.

And sorry. It's hard to tell when two posts have very similiar characteristics to one posted a few days ago, and all fall under the name Anonymous, and two of the posts were posted within two minutes of each other on different topics referring to the "new coach" as if we're actually getting one. I'm sure that's just an extremely odd coincidence...

I heard last weekend from 2 people at two different times that don't know one another and they both mentioned "A New Coach". I was given some specifics but I'm only going with a wait and see approach. And yes Coach Jimmy is out recruiting now but so was Coach Johnson at this time his last year.
PS: What is the big hang up with going by Anonymous? I could go by Monkey Man and no one would know who I was!!! No big deal.

BellTolls said...

No one cares who you are, but if you signed off as "Monkey Man" each time, then at least we'd know if you are the same poster with the same opinion as before or a different poster with the same opinion as another person.

I am planning on attending both games this weekend! Have to get as much hockey in as possible b4 the seasons over! Hope 2 se a lot of people up there!

I heard from my brother's friend, who heard it from the the guy who does his taxes, who heard it from a lady who he works with, who heard from a guy she used to know in high school, who heard from his talking dog, that Jimmy will be fired this offseason.

Yes, that's sarcasm.

Anonymous said...

Boy then a lot of people already know.

I think we've beat these anonymous rumors to death.

I'd ask for people to just be patient. There are still two games remaining this season. Let's support the players these final couple of games. Until we hear directly from the Stars organization what coaching changes might, or might not be made, it's all speculation and conjecture.

Thanks.

Would just like 2 point out that there were also rumors that the tryouts wouldn't be @ Tranquility but it loks like they are so you can't always believe what you hear

I will be at Saturday's game in SC. Am riding up with Anabear and her husband as they have been there before and I haven't. Looking to be loud and proud!

It's starting to sound like there will be a LOT of Stars fans in attendance this Saturday night in Sioux City. A "Black and Blue" invasion? I can't wait! Mrs. Yeti and myself will be sitting in Section 114, Row L, seats 1 and 2 if anyone would like to drop by and say 'hi.'

My Brother & I (and our better halves) will be at both games. In SF we are sitting in G. In SC we are in 105 and my Daughter & Son Inlaw will also be there. Go Stars

We need to lose against S. City this weekend to help them pass Tri City for the last playoff spot.

Shawn said...

I'm going with 4 or 5 other stars fans. I think we are sitting in Sec B in SF and Sec 114 in SC. Look for the Big White Flag. Wait there might 2 White Flags I hope to fly them a lot when we score.

I agree with nutzpucks in regards to the Stars website. Look around at the other USHL team websites then look at the Stars website. It's very unprofessional looking compared to what else is out there. Also they still have players pictures posted that aren't on the team and they can't even spell Sam Alfieri's name correctly. Seriously, his name has been up there spelled incorrectly for weeks. That's sad.

Ushl.com has a nice article on McCarron. I agree our website needs improvement!!

The last I knew, it was just one person trying to run the Stars website in their spare time. And no, it is not me. But I bet that if someone really wanted to, they could contact the Stars organization and offer to take over the responsibility of running it.

I hope this week end goes well for the Stars. Damn the other teams for playoff spots, I want the season to end with some wins!

Go STARS!!

Speaking of other teams, I was looking around the USHL's team sites and I noticed something. Seems some of the top teams have strength coaches and goalie coaches. Who does this for Lincoln? I'm not being negative I am just curious who Lincoln has do these things.

I heard from a really reliable source that the Stars are looking into doing away with the billet system and instead having all the players in a bootcamp style barracks, each player will have to take turn at standing "watch". The coaches will take turns living in the barracks to make sure everything goes smoothly.

April fools :) Figured we needed something funny today.

MacAttack said...

Fan....I believe that Corey Courtney, the team trainer serves as a strength/conditioning coach. they have no goalie coach. this past season Jared Coreau's goalie coach came down from Canada to work with both Jared and Matt one week.

Anyone wonder how Murdock got so good in between season's? He went to three different goalie camps during the summer. He put in the time and effort and it paid off big. Maybe Green would be able to do something similar. Of course, it would be nice if Green comes back. I guess we will see at try out camp.

Well, when I spoke with him at the banquet he was planning on coming back, but I suppose he was just lying to me.

I remember when Scotty Bowman was here for the all star festivities and he commented about the lack of goalie coaches was the only real weakness of the league. At the time no teams had goalie coaches. I was unaware any teams had them now. I think it would be great if we had one. I remember Steve Johnson commenting that he new nothing about goaltending and that they were basically on their own when it came to development. It seams odd that the top league in the country wouldn't have them. You never see a baseball team without a pitching coach.

Anonymous said...

I noticed that Omaha and Green Bay both list goalie coaches. I didn't look at other teams.

Anonymous,
Must be sheer coincidence that they are the top teams in each division. Always thought they should hire a goalie coach. Hope to see a lot of black and blue Saturday night in SC.

Funny how two of the top teams in the USHL, with two of the top goaltenders in the league, (Summerhays, Teglia), both have goaltender coaches.
