I don't have a lot of time today to write up an article for this game, so this recap will be brief. The Stars lost their fifth straight game as Team USA U-17 took advantage of Lincoln turnovers and skated to a 5-2 victory. Scoring goals for Lincoln was Ryan Dzingel and Garrett Peterson. Due to injuries on the U-17 squad, six players from the U-18 team played for the U-17 squad last night. Despite outshooting Team USA U-17 43-33, the Stars could only put two pucks past U-17 goaltender Matt McNeely. In their past five games, the Stars have been outscord by the opposition 17-5. With the loss, the Stars fell to 11-23-5 (27 points).
This one was a surprise to me. Considering how the U-17 team has struggled against USHL competition this season, I really thought the Stars would win this game. Again, the Stars put a ton of shots on goal, but can only put two past goaltender Matt McNeely. The U-17 did have some help with the six U-18 players in the lineup, but Lincoln turnovers resulted in too many odd-man rushes for Team USA. The Stars will play the U-18 team this afternoon at 2pm central. The U-18 team is much better than the U-17 team, so it will be interesting to see how the Stars respond.
**Roster News: According to Pointstreak, Stars defenseman Nate Baumbick was traded to Witchita Falls of the NAHL.
