Team USA's U-18 team schooled the Lincoln Stars up and down the ice on Saturday night. In the meantime, Lincoln racked up two fighting majors, six roughing penalties and four unsportsmanlike conduct misconducts, turning an otherwise clinic into a street fight.
Team USA won the game, 7-1. There really isn't much to say about this game, other than what has been said the majority of the season: bad game. Lincoln fell down 5-0 before Jarrod Mermis lit the lamp with 19 seconds left in the second period. Team USA scored twice early in the third to turn it into a rout. Jared Coreau, who has been stellar of late, was pulled early in the second after allowing four goals on 20 shots, although they were not all his fault. Matt Green didn't fare much better, allowing three goals on 16 shots.
Team USA goalie Jack Cambell made 37 saves on 38 shots. Jason Zucker had a hat trick 26 minutes into the game.
What say you, Stars fans? The team hasn't started thinking about going home yet, have they? This weekend at the Ice Box sure was not fun. Stars outscored 11-1 on their home ice. Ouch.
