WJC: USA Advances To Finals

I know this game really doesn't have anything to do with the Stars, but I think everyone should try to watch this game if they can.  There is some outstanding junior hockey being played right now at the World Junior Championships.

Last night, Team USA defeated Sweden 5-2 to advance to the finals of the World Junior Championship in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.  Team USA will faceoff against Team Canada for the gold medal Tuesday night at 7pm central.  The game will be broadcast on the NHL Network.

Team USA forwards Derek Stepan and Chris Kreider are both former draft picks of the Lincoln Stars.  Both players decided to play collegiate hockey instead of playing junior hockey with the Stars.  Stepan is the captain of the Team USA squad and the tournament's top scorer with 12 points in six games.  Kreider, who this past summer decided to finish high school early and enroll at Boston College, has scored 6 points in six games for Team USA at the WJC tournament.  Before Kreider decided to enroll early at BC, there were rumors that he was going to play for the Stars this season.

If you have the time to watch this game, I'd really recommend it.  Some great talent out there on the ice for both Team USA and Team Canada.  Most of these young players will be skating in the NHL someday.  Check it out if you can.

I echo these comments. I have been following most of the tournament on the NHL Network. Great talent out there. Canada and the US played New Year's Eve with the US losing in a shootout. Great game. I recommend watching if you like hockey.
