Game Recap: Lincoln Stars at Indiana Ice 12/11

Final Score:  Lincoln 1, Indiana 0

The Lincoln Stars used a strong defensive effort and fantastic goaltending to earn their fourth straight road win, and a 1-0 shutout victory over the hometown Indiana Ice.  Stars goaltender Matt Green earned his second shutout of the season as he stopped all 26 Indiana shots he faced.  After two scoreless periods, Stars forward Jon Puskar broke the 0-0 tie late in the third period and scored the game winning goal.  Puskar now has scored a goal in each of his last three games, and has potted 6 points in 10 games with Lincoln since being acquired from the BCHL.  Lincoln went 0-for-5 on the powerplay, while the Ice went 0-for-2 with the man advantage.

Great, great win on the road against a VERY good Indiana team.  I'm not sure why this Lincoln team plays better away from the IceBox, but they certainly needed this victory after a disappointing effort last Friday night at home against the Tri-City Storm.  The scoring still needs some work, but to shutout a team like Indiana in their own barn takes a total team effort.  I stated this before, but this team can beat the top teams in the USHL.  The problem so far this season has been putting forth that effort every game on a consistent basis.  It's been one step forward, two steps back at times this season, which has been frustrating to watch.  The talent is there.  It's just a matter of getting everyone on the same page every night.

The Stars will battle the Ice again Saturday night in Indianapolis, where Lincoln will look to extend their road winning streak to five games.  Like Friday night, the game will start at 6:05pm.

Go Stars.

GREAT Win for guys!! Looks like the Puskar, Gibbins, McCarron line has been really clicking!!

Glad to see coach leaving some of the lines together so they can gel. I did see McCarron playing with some other guys last night but most of the time he centered Puskar and Gibbons. Looks like Gerths, Reid and Lynch have been playing together the last 4 too!

Now we need to get a few more goals in the back of net so Green has a little more breathing room!!!

As Always,
