Live Blog/Chat - Stars at Blackhawks 11/7

I decided to give this another shot this weekend, but I will be late starting this up. The game starts at 7:05pm, but I will not be able to make it to a computer until later. I hope to start the chat up around the first intermission. I know the Huskers are playing Okalahoma at the same time tonight, so I don't expect the great turnout we had for the Tri-City game this past Tuesday. I've gotten a lot of positive feedback from folks who really like this new feature, so we'll be doing it throughout the season for most, if not all, away games.

So if you are around tonight, and want to chat with other Lincoln fans during the game, stop by around the first intermission...and I should have things going.

Go Stars.

sorry PK, can we have the goalie who just shut us out back and that siers kid who had one point moe than our entire team?

dr said...

glad to see siers score and racine got the win if Lincoln couldnt do it...sad to see the kids go but hope they have success somewhere else. Let's put BA in a uniform and maybe he can score for us....or stop a puck from goin in our net. Long way to go but we better start turing it around pretty quick.

This is a game the Stars just have to forget about. I wouldn't even waste my time watching the game film - too disheartening. You are not going to win games on the road when you start out 3 goals behind in the first 5 minutes. Players start trying to do too much and trying to force things which results into more mistakes, etc., etc. Until this team gets a healthy roster and some chemistry, it's going to be challenging at best. They need to keep it simple, work hard and stay positive. I know a lot of fans like the fights, but it sure doesn't help you win games or score goals and when it costs you two players when you already have a short bench, is it really worth it? Just my 2 cents...

I think the same thing. That was a stupid thing to do. I rather have a win then see a fight at all. Some players need to step up or it going to be a long season.

PensFan said...

As far as fighting and being down players goes, I dont care if they fight if it is worth it. If a player decides to try and fight for no reason and gets ejected or gets extra minutes then I hate it and I think its stupid. BUT, if a player is fighting to stick up for his teammates then I think it is great. For ex. there have been many times ive seen where opposing players go after Brockett and if our guys dont step in, then there players are gonna just keep going after him. Thats when I think fighting is a good thing.

sorry gotta question if the problem is that these guys we are trading can't play or can't play for Jimmy. Right now Charts has more points for Green Bay than our whole team has scored the last 3 or 4. Always questioned why #1 we don't have a goalie coach like most of the better programs and #2 why Jimmy didn't hire an assistant with Ushl experience to help with recruiting and practices. What I wouldn't give to have Pivitz back!!That guy could recruit and was a great assistant coach.

I wish all of the anonymouses would give themselves names. Then again you may be the same guy. Let me see if I have this straight. We lost to Waterloo because Gibbons goes hard to the net at Tri City gets jumped by two guys Petey jumps in to help and they get tossed. I'm glad I never had teamates like you two.
Anonymous #3, you're on the right track. The NHL gave USA Hockey 8 million dollars to DEVELOP hockey players. The USHL is at the top of the ADM, American Development Model. The reason the futures draft was moved from October to May is to give the USHL a crack at the youngsters before Team USA gets all of them.
Jimmy is an easy guy to like. He coaches with an emotion we as fans like to see. I would like to see more coaching, more development and less parts changing.

I would agree with this last poster in that at what point do you decide this is the team we will have for the season, commit to helping them get better and win/lose as a team. You can not under estimate the role of chemistry and consistency to overall success on the ice. When you have five players being traded (O'Leary, Chartier, McNulty, Siers, Racine), five injured (Rayner, Tate, Hanson, Ammons, Reid), one playing at the Junior A tourney (Gerths), four new/substitute players (Hoshaw, Sutter, Dzingel, Puskar)in and out of the lineup the past three+ weeks, it's no wonder the team appears discombobulated at times! It's got to be challenging for everyone involved to make it work. There is enough talent on this team along with good coaches to have a good season - we just need a little less discombobulation!!!

Since I canned B2 this year I have tried to pay closer attention to what Jimmy has to say. The first game at Fargo he said he didn't have the kids ready. The first trip to Tri City he said he didn't have the kids ready. When Charts was traded he said he feels he failed Charts. A couple weeks ago Melbye interviewed Ben Lynch and asked about the differences between Carlson and McGroarty. Carlson was all about systems, McGroarty told him just go out and play. I hope Jimmy chooses to be a coach and not a mechanic.

Jimmy is confused and discombobulated and is in over his head! Jim is not a players coach and is hiding behind the assistants. The word is out among players and its not working. You cant churn players and say you are developing them. The pressure is on for him to fill the stands and make money for the owners and he is out of answers. Its time for him to get fired. He blows smoke up any player he wants to get him to Lincoln and over time the players will leave. Look at the numbers and player stats this year.

I appreciate the opinions, folks...but we are getting a little too personal for my liking. When comments personally call out players, I will delete them...quick. If the "experts" want to continue to rail on Coach McGroarty, do it constructively. I don't personally agree with throwing players and/or coaches under the bus when they are struggling, but that's just my opinion. You want to talk about the team? Fine. You want to personally call out players? Don't bother. I won't post it.

Again, please keep this civil. I appreciate the opinions, I really do. I'm not a big fan of the anonymous drive-by comment...but I can't do anything about that. I'm not going to make people register to comment.

The Stars are struggling, there's no doubt about that. More than ever they need our support. It's easy to sit behind a keyboard and point fingers. We're all experts when our team is losing. We all think we know the answers. We can't snap our fingers and make it all good again. The Stars are in a hole, but they'll find a way to climb out. In the meantime, be patient...and have faith that the TEAM will find a way to pull through this. A true fan will stick by their team through the good times, and the bad. Are you a true fan?

Keep the faith.

Thanks.

The true fans need to be at the Ice Box on friday and saturday night!!! I agree with Yeti about not throwing players under the bus. This is a team!!
Another good support of the team - if we are down, let's say 5-1 with 3 minutes left in the game. Stay those last 3 minutes!!! Support your team through thick and thin!!!

There's a reason why the Lincoln Stars are used as a model when the USHL is making their pitch to other cities. Support, through the good times and the better times it will always be support. The USHL and it's cities are not the destination for these kids. Only a stopping point on there way to a college commitment.

Have you ever been to a Chicago Steel game when Lincoln does'nt bring two busloads of people? The kids love it in Lincoln, most may not have it this good in college.I have a good feeling about this weekend.Hope to see everyone there.
