Stars Pick Up Steven Hoshaw

Lost in the excitement of Friday night's game against Youngstown, the Stars picked up a defenseman from the Waterloo Blackhawks. The transaction hasn't been posted on Pointstreak yet, but according to a Waterloo newspaper article, the Stars traded a 2010 USHL Entry Draft pick to the Blackhaws for defenseman Steven Hoshaw.

Hoshaw is a 6'1" 215 pound defenseman ('90) from Vista, CA. Like current Stars players David Gerths and Corey Hibbeler, Hoshaw is a graduate of Culver Military Academy ('08). I saw Hoshaw walking around with the scratches last night, and this guy is built like a truck. During the pregame announcements, Hoshaw was listed as wearing #6. James McNulty wore #6 before last night, so I am to assume McNulty was released from the Stars to make room for Hoshaw.

It appears the coaches want to add some size and grit to the Stars blueline with the addition of Hoshaw. We'll have to wait to find out if Hoshaw can provide just that.

Go Stars.

An FYI for Stars fans. We are now going to have Coach McGroarty's post-game comments posted on the Stars web site for as many games as possible. Last Friday's is already up.

Mike,

Thanks for that bit of info. Much appreciated. As a fan, your pre and post game interviews are something I always try to catch. Lots of great information talking to Corey, Nick, and Jimmy. Sometimes I don't get to listen to the post game interview with Coach, so having those available on the Stars website is good news.

I also want to let the folks out there know that Melbye's player interviews are also linked on the Stars main website. Those are a lot of fun to listen to as well.

Melbye...what happened with the blog you did last season? I really hope you decide to do it again this season. I enjoyed reading your comments.
