Live Blog - Stars at Storm 10/20

Well, we'll see how this goes. We'll call it a "trial run."

If you feel like it, you can use this blog article to comment during the game tonight. I'm not sure if I'll be online to blog live during the game, but I will try. If you're listening to the game on the radio, or watching it on B2, and you want to interact with any other Lincoln fans here, feel free to click "Comments" link below and type away.

This is something we'll try for road games, and see how many folks actually participate. If enough fans join in and comment throughout the game, I'll continue doing it for road games.

Faceoff for the game tonight is at 7:05pm.

You can listen to Mike Melbye call the game on the radio (1480AM), or you can listen via the 1480AM online site.

If you feel like throwing your money out the window spending some cash, you can also watch the game on B2 Networks.

Go Stars.

Nice pregame interview Melbye had with Coach Fouts. I didn't know that Bruneteau had 34 stitches in that game against Sioux City.

For some reason, I'm unable to connect to the online radio link. Might just have to listen the old fashioned way.

Yeti said...

One of the guys I mentioned in the pregame report, Jaden Schwartz, scores for the Storm. TC up 1-0.

starstruck said...

The online link did not come on right away. It finally came on part way into Fouts interview. Online is only way I can listen to game - no 1480 reception here.

Chartier is a healthy scratch with so many injured players out of the lineup for Lincoln. Hmmmm.....

Hanson, Tate, Ammon, Rayner, and O'Leary all out with injuries tonight.

tzweeb said...

yeti i have had trouble linking thru the stars page to the listen link. if you go to the klms site and then just listen live from there.

Jimmy Siers dropped the mitts with Andrew Panzarella. Didn't sound like much of a fight.

Siers gets 5 for fighting, 5 for charging, and a game ejection. Storm on the PP for 5 minutes. Uggh.

Yeti said...

TC up 2-0.

Gibbons received a minor during the Siers-Panzarella fight, so TC had a 5-on-3 PP. TC scores with the two man advantage.

Stupid penalties already costing the Stars.

Yeti said...

Well, according to Poinstreak....Coach Jimmy McGroarty received an unsportsmanlike conduct minor penalty during the Siers-Panzarella fight, so Gibbons was in the box when TC scored the second goal.

TC just scores again on the PP. Storm up 3-0. Ugly, ugly first period.

tzweeb said...

wow the 3rd goal on us so far.... the p.k. guys were laying all over the ice and made it easy for a back side open net on coreau

tzweeb said...

glad the first is over. hopefully we can come back with some pep in our step.

Anonymous said...

I'm thinking we should try out Racine. The game can't get much worse, can it?

tzweeb said...

i guess when siers faught the other player did not take his helmet off so that got us a 2nd 5 min penalty. sure didnt help the guys on that one.
maybe thats the new way to not get knocked out by siers!!!

tzweeb said...

siers was ejected from the game as well.

Anonymous said...

Is Siers ejected or did he just get a 10 minute misconduct?

tzweeb said...

correction we heard the tri city rink announcer say it was an ejection but i guess it was not so for siers.

Anonymous said...

good! we need Siers!!

Anonymous said...

Sure hope Chartier is injured cause this team is mediocre without him. Nobody else on the team sees the ice and makes plays like he does. After the last couple games it sure seems like we're playing goon hockey. I'd rather see a goal or two than a fight or stupid penalty. We're starting to look like Waterloo-ouch!

F*MOU$ said...

"Lets get a goal God Damn It"
-Stars radio personel back in Lincoln.

Not sure if Im the only one that heard that.

Anonymous said...

chartier isn't injured.

"-Stars radio personel back in Lincoln."

Is that Christopher Wood?

F*MOU$ said...

I couldn't think of his name, but yeah. Pretty sure that's him

tzweeb said...

we heard it also, but he corrected himself afterwards...LOL
the 2nd we looked somewhat better, had the puck in tri-citys end but still couldnt get the shots off.
still making errors on when to take a "good" penalty.
the powerplay actually looked good, we had guys in front of the net ready for a rebound, but the puck just didnt find its way up there.
we start the 3rd with a man up so if we make more progress, then we should score a goal... g--dmmmt...LOL

Anonymous said...

the second period was definitely better, but the Tri City goalie looks pretty good. Hopefully we can score a few in the third to get our confidence up!

tzweeb said...

did anyone else see the tri city mascott knock the hat off of one of our fans???
guess you have to be watching on B2. not much else to talk about then the lack of fans up there.
must be nice to have your daddy by a hockey team and arena so you can play hockey with the big boys.. i havent even noticed the owners son, but what the heck.

tzweeb said...

racine looked good after the first puck put on him. after that the defense did a much better job then in the first.
time to get back to the 3rd and a GOAL

F*MOUS$ said...

I think I've heard owners kids' name mentioned once, maybe twice on B2.

tzweeb said...

kirk brooks is the owner and kenny is the kid.
#13 has 2 goals and 1 assist so far this year, but nothing tonight.

tzweeb said...

shine, brockett, reid, lynch and 2 others get the puck forced in past the line!!!
had a pile in front of the net and it did go over right before tri city knocked the net off.

tzweeb said...

anyone know what ever happend to Ryan Bencurik?
he was to be an assist. coach for tri city, but not there now.

Yeti said...

Brockett gets credit for the Stars PP goal. You're good luck, fangers.

Storm back on a 5-on-3 PP. uggh.

Bencurik was fired by TC before the season started. Not sure why.

tzweeb said...

well i heard they cleaned house with the new owner. but thought he would do well anywhere.
and yeti, the video has been good tonight on B2.

F*MOUS$ said...

The way they played last year, would you blame the new owner for cleaning house? Get rid of the bad apples.

silver said...

Don't look for Charts. My sources tell me he is gone, as in traded.

Yeti said...

If I recall correctly, Bencurik was hired during the offseason by the new TC regime, but was fired before the regular season started.

Give credit to TC for capitalizing early on the powerplay when they had their opportunities. TC isn't the doormat they were last season. They're a salty bunch.

I'm getting offline. Thanks to all who stopped by to comment tonight. I think it was a success. We'll do it again this Saturday night when Lincoln travels to Des Moines.

I'll write up a postgame report sometime tomorrow. Go Stars.

Chartier was traded??

tzweeb said...

nice job here tonight as well folks.
by the way did anyone hear the off mic comments after the game???
sounded like someones not happy with a NU coach calling plays...hmmmm
sure hope the huskers get it back together again.

Anonymous said...

A trade for Chartier would be good news. As of last I heard, he was gone and we didn't get anything for him.

tzweeb said...

other comments from tonight... we are becoming a goon squad?
really what does it take to be known as a goon squad?
we had 1 fight tonight and it was called for with some close action by the tri city net.
i think fighting and hitting hard is common in hockey and the USHL, so does anyone have a thought as to if we are a goon squad team??

Anonymous said...

TC fans call us a goon squad every year. it's nothing new. If anything, this team is more tame than any team we've had in the past couple of years. The only guys who would go out of their way to fight are Siers, Baumbick and Peterson.

Love the live blogging during the games. Sorry I couldn't join you all. Thanks for visiting the blog and posting. 42 comments is awesome. Too bad the Stars didn't pull through tonight. It's a long season though. We'll improve. The play of Steven Racine is encouraging, especially since the goal he let in was on the first shot he faced (nerves).

Travis said...

Because of work I could not catch the game. Sounds like it may have been good that I didn't. Sound like maybe Racine should be getting a few more chances in net. Season is still early, and it seems like we always start the season a little slow. I was not aware that Chartier may be on the way out of town. That is too bad. Great job on the blog guys. Was the B2 feed any better than the opening game in Fargo? Got get em on Friday.

Well it pains me to admit that I was there. I was drunk by the end of the first period. It was a wierd night for me cause I was there with my 3 year old nephew(Tri-City trash) :) and my better halfs mother an sister(both also TC trash) and the sisters husband(reformed TC trash now a STARS fan)I was so glad when the game was over. I am really looking forward to friday.

starstruck said...

As others have posted, the season is still young. Three wins and three losses - the wins have each been very close match-ups (very exciting games). However our losses have not been close, with Stars out-scored by 2 or more goals. Painful listening to the one last night! Hopefully the next b... kicking, Stars will be doing the kicking. I am trusting that the coaches & team will fix what needs fixing. 54 games left to get where we want to be! Go Stars!!

I was the fan that got the hat knocked off my head, that stupid mascot has done that twice to me in the last two years....I'm just about tired of that stupid wooly mammoth thing trying to touch me! Better not happen again if I decide to go back on the 3rd
