Live Blog - Stars at Bucs 10/24

We had a good turnout last time we did this, so let's try it again. Feel free to comment here while listening to, or watching, the game tonight. Hopefully the Stars will play better than the Huskers did today. Yikes. :(

I don't have time to write up a pregame report for the Bucs game, so this will be it. This will be the second time these two teams have faced each other this season, with Lincoln winning 3-2 at the Ice Box on 10/9. I have no idea who will be in net tonight for Lincoln. Both goaltenders for the Stars have struggled as of late, so it's anyone's guess who will start.

You can listen to the game on 1480AM, or watch the game on the B2 Network.

Faceoff is at 7:05pm

Hopefully we'll get a good turnout tonight. I'll be here to blog along also. See you all then.

Go Stars.

I mentioned this previously, but Ryan Dzingel (Stars affiliate player) will be in the lineup tonight. He'll be wearing #18. That was Chartier's old number, so the rumors of him leaving the team must be true. I guess the Stars won't even be able to trade him now. :(

Dzingel ('92) is a 5'11 160 pound forward from Wheaton, IL. He has scored 10 points (7g, 3 a) in 11 games with Team Illinois this season. He was a player who I thought performed very well at the tryouts in Omaha. He should be a regular in the lineup next year for sure, or maybe even this year if he performs well enough during these call-ups.

Was the feed from B2 Better for anyone the last couple of games? The first Fargo feed made me want to mutilate my own face it was so bad. I want to see the game but I dont want to go through the choppy video again.

Yeti said...

I've never watched a game from Des Moines, but I'm betting that it's not worth the money. The Bucs play in a very old rink, so I bet they don't have a lot of options in terms of multiple cameras.

Rayner (IR), O'Learly (H1N1), Tate (IR), Siers (?), and Hanson (Injured) are all scrateches for the game.

Yeti said...

I assume Siers is a healthy scratch. Maybe that's a message to some of the vets.

Anonymous said...

if O'leary has H1N1 why was he hanging out with the rest of the scratches last night? I'm guessing/hoping that he's no longer contagious? I wonder if they gave the rest of the boys vaccines?

tzweeb said...

bummer fro siers, but it is about sending a message that nobody is guaranteed a spot to play. it takes effort to be on the ice.
wish we had the same thing from the huskers... if your not playing or getting things done, then we will pull you...

we are going to watch on B2 tonight and will be here back and forth to let you all know what we are seeing.
im hoping that they have a reasonable camera and can listen to melby as well.
see you soon.
thanks yeti for leeping this blog going very well.

Coreau in net tonight for Lincoln.

tzweeb said...

by the way it costs 7 bucks for B2 one game at a time. still cheaper then me taking my family to the game. plus we get to eat cheap food here at home.

tzweeb said...

got the b2 connection and they have a real good and bright picture.

James said...

Weather I listen to the game on the radio or watch it on B2 I feel like im stuck in the 60's either way. You were right Yeti the quality of the picture alone is LAME!

BA Photos said...

thanks tzweeb I thought about geting the broadcast but figured i would just listen and work on photos from lastnights game

Yeti said...

Stars doing a good job putting a ton of shots on goal early on in this game. 8-4 in favor of Lincoln with 12 minutes remaining in the first period.

BA Photos said...

any more injuries they might have to call in the camera guy to play..... I better go sharpen my skates :)

tzweeb said...

well the stars player on the ice is on his back after being smashed into the glass head first.
i just have dsl 3.0 and seem to have a great picture. also we watch it with a clone screen into our big screen t.v.
sounds like the buc fans were happy to have our player hurt.

Li-Studios said...

wow game ejection Weisenhoffer already.

tzweeb said...

so the bucs injure our guy and the get a power play out of it????

Layla said...

LOL that'd be funny, "Will anyone who can skate please report to the Stars locker room immediately?"

tzweeb said...

weis' was just protecting our guy for being boarded

Yeti said...

I'd suit up too, Brandon. I've got all my gear here, ready to go. Gimme the call, coach! :)

Things getting chippy out there. DM with a 12 second two man advantage.

BA Photos said...

yea im not sure how that works Tzweeb unless we mouthed off to he refs

Yeti said...

Bucs score a powerplay goal. 1-0 Des Moines.

BA Photos said...

glad to hear sine is back on the ice because i sure wouldnt of lasted long hahaha

tzweeb said...

well they didnt get it on the 2 man adv, but got a hot shot under 2 d men and then it went 5 hole on coreau.
he was just really hoping around to stay in front of the puck, but you can usually only stop soo many shots until they got lucky. i think we blocked his view of the puck.

this game will have a fight soon... lots of fists to the helmets already.

Yeti said...

Colton Saucerman is a name some Lincoln fans might remember. He's a defenseman for the Bucs. He was at the Lincoln tryouts in Omaha this past June. I thought he played well at tryouts, but he obviously didn't make the team.

Yeti said...

Uggh. Here come the penalties. :(

BA Photos said...

here we go

Li-Studios said...

I think one of those punches landed on the lines mens head

Yeti said...

Line brawl. Hibbeler drops the mitts. I bet Jimmy Siers wishes he wasn't a scratch right about now.

Yeti said...

1:40 two man PP advantage for DM. Jeezus.

starstruck said...

Where did this ref come from???

Li-Studios said...

****!

Yeti said...

2-0 Bucs. Another PP goal.

This could be another long night for the Stars.

BA Photos said...

this is BS WTF????

Yeti said...

McGroarty going nuts trying to talk to the ref. 2 minute bench minor.

It's going to be one of those nights.

Layla said...

so the Stars get a bench minor cuz Bruno wanted to talk to the ref? Anyone have more details?

BA Photos said...

Mike said it best... they have no clue

Li-Studios said...

I feel a coach ejection coming on.

Anonymous said...

ref on a power trip. some things never change in this league.

BA Photos said...

should be a ref ejection cuz he sucks

Yeti said...

End of the first period. 2-0 Bucs.

BA Photos said...

wonder what coach is goin to say in the locker room????

Li-Studios said...

Agreed BA! Doesn't the league have anyone that observes these refs?

tzweeb said...

webinger is the new zebra we are going to love to hate. i think melby said he was at the ice box during a wonderfully called game!!LOL
and i thought i saw one of the refs get a fist to the head as well... well deserved

dont be surprised if we start to see markers flying out of the stars bench soon.

tzweeb said...

last year the booster club had a meeting and 2 refs were the speakers, yes they do get evaluated after every game by both coaches and also they can have a video review if needed.
but i have yet to see a ref get put into the penalty box for making a bad call.

Li-Studios said...

I can feel it. Its gonna happen!

Li-Studios said...

why does he keep saying halloween friday night? I thought it was sat.?

BA Photos said...

GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeti said...

w00t! McCarron scores for the Stars. Lincoln cuts the DM lead in half. Bucs up 2-1 now.

tzweeb said...

the goalie was knocked into the net by their own guy and was still on his knees when we shot the puck and bounced it off his back. it was a pretty thing.
and yes the halloween game is saturday night vs tri-city.

Yeti said...

I love it when Melbye yells, "SCOOOOOOOOORE!" Sweet, sweet sound to my ears.

All knotted up at 2-2. Steve West scores the PP goal.

tzweeb said...

nice work in front of the net for the good guys. looked to me like we got the redirect.

starstruck said...

Keep it going Stars!!

Yeti said...

You've got to be kidding me. Bucs score with zero's on the clock.

3-2 Bucs. Crap.

BA Photos said...

be nice to see a replay of that one sounded like i heard the buzzer b4 the train horns

tzweeb said...

sorry could not tell if the time had run out before that last goal, but we did a much better job getting shots and being in the right place during the 2nd.
as coach said during the first break., we have to adjust to how the refs are calling the game.

Li-Studios said...

Well I saw it and it was close. But I have to agree with Mike on this one. It was after the buzzer.

Anonymous said...

We definitely outplayed them in the 2nd period, so I'm feeling a comeback win tonight!!

Li-Studios said...

I want to travel to the game tomorrow.

Yeti said...

How 'bout a goal, Lincoln!

Yeti said...

Stars lose their third straight game, 3-2 to the Bucs. Des Moines scored all three goals on the PP.

Stars play one of the best teams in the USHL tomorrow afternoon, the Cedar Rapids Roughriders. It doesn't get any easier.

Li-Studios said...

5 people injured. ugh

tzweeb said...

you should have seen the end of the game in front their net. the good guys were pushing people around trying to get clear and coach m came running out onto the ice to get our guys away from them. he looked funny being in shoes and so much shorter then the players.
wish we could have had a better result, but atleast we got a shout out from swede!!!

guess it was just a good day for iowa teams.

tzweeb said...

on a good note we did make good adjustments on penalties in the 2nd and 3rd, but what i saw was a bunch of guys that were just following the bucs around and not trying to make something happen.
new guy dzingle put out a really good effort. looks like he will be a keeper if he can keep playing like he did tonight.

Justin said...

I wasn't listening to the game, only looking on pointstreak. Who were the injuries besides Shine?

Li-Studios said...

they forgot to record the coaches comments lol.

tzweeb said...

the guy at klms forgot to record the game highlights tonight and then just for got to record the coaches comments. guess we wont get to hear them replayed. sounds like mike was not a happy guy with his home town support.

Yeti.... the Stars still hold Chartier's rights. Even though he quit they still own him. It is now in Brett's hands to play "Lets make a deal". A deal for the Stars to release him or trade him away. This is what happen last year with Sebastian Geoffrion.

Anonymous said...

I'm glad we held on to Chartier's rights. You up and leave, we shouldn't just let him go play wherever he wants.

Yeti said...

JStars101,

Thanks for the info. Much appreciated.

Anonymous,

I agree 100%. I don't know the story behind him leaving the team, but if he was unhappy about something, he could asked to be traded, like Geoffrion did last season. I noticed that Mike Melbye didn't mention it at all last night, nor did he ask the coaches about it.

starstruck said...

Seems like they avoided talking about it, but Melbye made a point of asking Coach Fouts what number Dzingal would be wearing. So I was wondering if that was an opening for it to be brought up if coaches felt appropriate. A question: Does Chartier's not being able to play for another team when we have his rights apply only to his playing in the USHL? Or could he play in a different league - or does the Stars having his rights impact that as well?

Anonymous said...

Brett did not quit the Lincoln Stars, simply asked to be traded. So until Jimmy can make a trade deal for him, he will not be playing in the USHL. It is no different than any other trade that happens, except that this time the player asked to be traded. In other trades, the coaches may take days or weeks to come to terms on a trade deal behind the scenes.
