Stars Clinch Playoff Spot

I forgot to mention this when I posted the Waterloo postgame report, but with the one point the Stars earned in the OT loss against the Blackhawks, the Stars clinched a spot in the USHL playoffs. The Stars were the first team in the USHL to earn a playoff spot.

Lincoln is in first place in the West Division with a record of 31-14-4 (66 points). The '07-'08 Lincoln Stars team ended the regular season with 31 wins, so the next win for the Stars will put them with more wins than last year's squad.

Congrats to the team on making the playoffs. There is still a lot of hockey yet to be played, but I think it's important to recognize these types of achievements. Congrats also to Coach Jimmy McGroarty for making the USHL playoffs in each of his first two seasons in the league as a head coach. For me personally, I am very thankful to have such a terrific coach leading the team I follow. You look around the league at teams who are struggling right now, or just not clicking...and you see fans upset at how their coaches are dealing with the adversity. I think we are very lucky to have such a talent at head coach in Lincoln. Let's hope he stays around for a long, long time.

I think the team(players) deserve a lot of credit as well. They have worked really hard this year to improve every game. They have succeeded. I'm really proud of all the players this year. Go Stars!
