Pregame Report - Lincoln at Omaha 3/17

St. Patrick's Day Edition!

The Lincoln Stars will finish up their four game road swing tonight in Council Bluffs, as they take on the hometown Omaha Lancers. This will be the seventh and final time the Stars and Lancers meet in the regular season. The Stars lead the season series, 3-2-1. The last time these two teams met, it was a 7-1 drubbing by the hands of the Lancers at the Ice Box. The Stars will look to get a little revenge on their rival to the north.

Lincoln netminder Kevin Murdock is 2-0-1 against the Lancers this season, with a .933 save percentage and a 1.95 goals against average in those three games. Doc has much better numbers against the Lancers this season, so I would guess he'll be in net tonight. However, Anthony Borelli is coming off a fantastic effort Sunday night against the Cedar Rapids Roughriders, so you never know.

Apart from the recent 7-1 nightmare, the Stars have done a fantastic job all season against the Lancers group of talented forwards, specifically Danny Kristo and Louis Leblanc. In 11 games played against the Stars, Kristo and Leblanc have only accounted for 3 goals, and 3 assists. Those two can score points at will, but the Stars have been able to shut them down most of the season.

Considering how bad the Stars played the last time these two teams played, I would expect an entirely different game than the 7-1 beatdown we witnessed last week. I'm sure that loss is fresh in their minds, so I would bet the Stars come out and play one of their best games of the season tonight. Go Stars.

Faceoff is at 7:05pm

Predictions? Anyone going to the game?

Stars got off to a big lead, then held on to win 4-3. I'll try to get a postgame report done tonight. If you went to the game, I'd appreciate any comments on how well the Stars played. Thanks.
